• Why does searching the forums require CAPTCHA?

    We often get asked why we require users who are not logged in to use CAPTCHA when using our search function. We have to require captcha for not-logged-in users to search the forums otherwise we have bots that slam our forums doing searches. In other words, we do it to ensure the speed and accessibility to legitimate forum users is as optimal as we can make it. If you are logged in so we know you are not a bot, then you no longer have to navigate captcha.

      Google can search the forums as well, without a captcha:

      "some search string" site:forums.opensuse.org

      The search string can be entered without double quotes, but with the double quotes it has a literal meaning.
