Default Novell Strips BitTorrent DHT Technology from openSUSE

Quote:
The Pirate Bay’s tracker closure has spurred several discussions about DHT, BitTorrent’s fallback technology for when central trackers are unavailable. According to some, DHT has some problems of its own. Novell, for example, decided to ship openSUSE with the BitTorrent client Transmission, but not before stripping DHT support.
Novell made it on TorrentFreak

Not really the point if it's old or new. The point, which you missed, is that Novell made it to TorrentFreak

Why am I not surprised it was in a 'negative light', I wonder if Boy and his cohorts had something to do with it.

Mental note to self; next time when sending mail to people, make sure you aren't using J's hotmail account because he's too thick to not save user/pass and close the browser.

Boy has his hands in virtually everything Novell - I think there's love between these two . He prolly lobbied on Novell's part, on the negative side. Something he accuses others of doing, yet he does it too

Dunno who's "J" .....

Turning off DHT doesn't make much difference though, as you can enable PEX support (assuming there is a tracker to get things started). I got attracted to Torrentfreak to, and there's an explanation of how Transmission WILL have DHT enabled but with one of those pop ups "you will be good, won't you?" to agree to.
