Default FatELF to bring Universal binaries to Linux

Quote:
The FatELF project is hoping to to bring Mac OS X style Universal Binary files to Linux. Universal binaries allow Mac developers to create applications which contain the code for different processors in one file and FatELF aims to bring the same functionality to Linux and other free operating systems.

Honestly I think, something like fatelf is not needed for linux systems, since you normally download your software from repositories with software specially for your architecture. This is something for windows or mac os, where people download software from 3rd party sites and don't even know, which processor they use.

Done some reading: this is getting nowhere. It would mean I would have to take action to avoid Windows and Apple binaries being installed on my system. They say it will "require some extra space"......Like Windows 7 Ultimate does: 25.7 GB...Don't think I ever had a linux install that big.
