I upgraded M8 to RC1 using zypper dup and openSUSE still works perfectly. Nice workI'm just wondering when will 11.2 have ATI repository so i could install the driver for my video card. The last time (about a week ago) i installed them from ati's site but they didn't work (kwin was crashing instantly when KDE started).

Given the "freeze" that must be in place for 11.2, I'm wondering if it will come out with a patched 4.3.1 as opposed to 4.3.2 ?
Strange though, since GNOME got updated to 2.28, but KDE stays at 4.3.1

Sure, most fixes will be included somehow, but it is a mess nevertheless, if you report bugs back to KDE and state your version as 4.3.1, which is then some SUSE-kind of 4.3.1 instead. A mess.

KDE4 is nice, but it still needs all the bugfixes it can get and SUSE missing a release by just a few days is just painful. Why is there no distro that is truly focused on KDE?

Have a read here:

KDE 4.3.2 and openSUSE 11.2 | kdedevelopers.org

And no, there is no mess as if when you report bugs at KDE you state where did those packages came from. I guess KDE devs know what happens with openSUSE and how they backport patches, and also Novell employs many KDE devs anyway

What the hell, I'm pretty pissed, why is milesotne 8 STILL on the main download page for opensuse rather than the rc, I just installed m8 just to find the rc is released.

Website fail.

This is the main software download page for development openSUSE:
Software.openSUSE.org

when I connect from europe I am offered to download RC1.

What URL is it that you believe is the "main download" page?

do you ever work offline? and have set some sites to cache?
maybe you have set your cache preferences so that you get pages served
from cache..
ever click reload, or press F5 to make sure you see the latest page?
(especially important if you use Internet Exploder)

I tried it on my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 1718 without problems. It is working fine and booting rapidly. On my AMD Phenom Quad with asus-Board and two physical SATA i have a problem with the second SATA which is not seen in any case, or working with the liveCD, or installing it. There is no way to see it, even the hardware-tool in yast doesn't see it. It only works with the first SATA. This problem is new, because with 11.0 and 11.1 everything was well. I tried out with 32 and 64-bit version.

I had some time tonight, and therefore I worked on the problem. I resolved it with another second SATA. Infact the first SATA is WDC, the second was Maxtor. The Maxtor is not seen by 11.2 even if i put it on the first sata channel. It is not working if maxtor is alone. It is only working with wdc. Fortunately i had a wdc at home for changing the maxtor. now it is working fine, but i ask myself what happens from 11.1 to 11.2 that maxtor is no longer seen.
