Default OpenSuse Release Counter - a good idea?

POLL: Would you like to see an OpenSuse Release Counter counting backwards the days to the next release on our forum?

My suggestion would be to let the Counter shine within the green header of the forum a month before the new release comes out. Also it should change its language according the brwosers loaction (e.g a user from Italy would see a counter in italian language). I know that one can spread the word by linking to the countdown timer on OpenSuse Countdown Timer, but why in the world don´t we have one here? That way, everyone visiting the forum would be infected with the same exitement as we do...

What´s your openion - should we have one integrated into the header once it´s time again?

I'd like to see a counter link that was NOT version specific. Thus
websites do not have to change their links to see the count down to
the next release.

e.g. How about something like:
http://counter.opensuse.org/opensuse/medium

(for the openSUSE OS counter)

Absolutely, cjcox. I´m still wondering why noone has considered to provide a countdown for the forum yet. As I said, many people visit the forum just to look up something and if we´d have a counter in the header, people would immediately notice and they might even think "Hey there´s a new release! Hm...why not give OpenSuse a try?"

But not just for the forum. I'd want people to put a link to the counter
on every site out there... but it's a pain when the URL changes with
EVERY release (the other distros are not much better).

cjcox: I just noticed that the counter is still perfectly valid without any version information. So this might be *the* solution: http://counter.opensuse.org/medium

Maybe a counter with
Code:
Number of bugs we are still working on before we release?

In my point of view that would be too much. You´ll never know exactly what is being fixed last minute and on top of that... a simple counter like the above would suffer.

Its a waste of space, I vote no.
I would like to see it on other sites like distrowatch...

Your argument is totally unacceptable for me. Distrowatch? Yep, then feel free to talk to the site maintainers - including the image won't be a problem at all. In my point of view, Space is not a severe issue here. If not in the header, on the left is plenty.

You know, not every newcomer is taking a look at Distrowatch and why not put a small counter on the OpenSuse-Forum, the place where the heart of thze operating system pumps?
