I think so, a forum for security would be great. Especially when messages like this come through the mailing list:

Code:
Broadcast message from ml-admin@opensuse.org
        (/dev/pts/0) at 07:30 GMT ...

The system is going down for halt NOW!

What would that have to do with having a security forums here? As for
that message, I think it has to do with
the
planned power outage.

For me it depends on the perspective. If my system has broadcast blocking and a broadcast message like the one stated comes through my system, then it's a security issue on my system and I would like to know how to lock it down.

Like Multimedia is a subforum of Applications, I'd like Security to be a subforum of Install or rather Network. Maybe, thinking out loud, rename Network to Network/Security.

These days I've been in some debates about linux and security/vulnerability. I would not want the forum to be like those. Mainly talk about possible linux virusses and other malware, where it is explained how to open up your system completely and then issue commands like 'rm -rf /'.

I personally always felt there should of been a server forum this could of caught these type of things as well as, mail servers, apache, php, ftp, samba, ssh etc...

Lets be honest viruses atm would be quite a small topic. As for malware the type of people going to catch malware are hardly likely to read a section devoted to it.

That sounds to me like a better idea.

Yes and yes. Malware tends to be self-inflicted, and is probably adequately covered in Windows community forums. Even if Windows forums are covered in it.

of course it had to do with the power outage (again) I guess they have problems with Strom in Nuernburg . Anyways where else would you post an issue if the whole list is down ?

Post it on the forums since we were not effected by the power outage. If
the issue is not resolved by the time the list comes back up then post
to the mailing list.

It's a good idea particularly to share security incidents and remediation. Information about some Suse specific topics can be shared there as well. AppArmor, for example.
