As you probably know, we have an archive section (Forums Archive (READ ONLY) - openSUSE Forums) where you can find content from the original forums which existed before they merged into forums.opensuse.org.
The team wonders if you still use these archived messages. The openSUSE versions which were on topic back then have reached their end of life and aren't supported any more. If you don't need the archives, we could delete them. If you need them, we'll of course keep them. Raise your voice ![]() Thank you Uwe |

Many times, when you do a Google search for info, the results will include many of these archived posts. I'd say keep 'em if at all possible.

Yup, and if you delete them, it's basically saying "screw you" to all the people who have invested time in the past in fixing problems or providing advice

I suppose that checking them one by one, if they are expired or not, is to time consuming. So leave them if possible. Search engines will still find usefull threads for people.

Personally I can't remember the last time I was in the archives. But I can understand why some might find the info there useful. I'll not loose any sleep either way.

that's because you an me are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to Linux. This is not true for most newbies and I have seen newbies *and* guests more than on one occasion browse through the archives

As hcw mentioned, if they could be checked for relevancy, it would be good, but probably not practical. Maybe this could be reviewed again over next couple of years. It would be interesting to see the stats on activity of this read-only forum. Its sort of like keeping old technical books - they become more nostalgic and less useful with time.
