I like Suse a lot better. But I am fed up.

So I ordered Windows 7. If I have to do anything more complicated than e-mail or a simple text document (that doesn't require using a fancy printer) I will use Windows and reserve LINUX strictly for the Internet connection and e-mail (thats all it seems to be capable of).

Thanks for the help but I won't be following this forum any longer.
Hey Chochoms, sorry to read about your bad experience. The printer you have is poorly supported in Linux. Its possible to get it to work, but in the case of openSUSE and some other distributions, only if the packager have taken the extra time to add what is needed for that specific printer. Some distros have, some have not.

Given that most manufacturers provide SIGNIFICANTLY superior support for Windoze, there is a good chance that printer will work better under Windoze.

I confess, given what I want in an Operating System, I find Linux very inexpensive, and it would be far cheaper for me to purchase a printer that I know has EASY openSUSE Linux configuration, than it would be to purchase MS-Windows. In fact, I REFUSE to buy hardware that has not the EASY openSUSE Linux compatibility that I need. Why fund a manufacturer who does not provide the needed support for my chosen operating system? That makes NO sense to me.

When one adds up the cost of proprietary software for applications on Windows, and compares that to the cost of software on Linux, the same is also true. By selecting hardware that I have researched to ensure works EASY on Linux, everything "just works" and it requires no extra time.

I don't have the budget for Windoze.

Most of my friends who use Windoze do not have the same capabilities as I have on Linux. Those who do have the same or more capabilities, are all using pirated software to get that capability. They can not afford it either.

But if you have the budget, and if Windoze just works for you, then go for it.

We are a support forum, and we want YOU to have the BEST PC experience, however you adopt it.

Take care and a good day !
