If you get on better with K in kde4 I'll be surprised. I still find kde3's K better but have stopped using it now. Dolphin 'Rocks' in kde4.2.4 for me. You could always try krusader

Talk about civilization? First post ever on this forum "Dolphin Browser sucks". Shouldn't that be a question? Like "What am i doing wrong with Dolphin?". Dolphin's not even a browser, it's a filemanager. And a prooven superfast file manager.

Seems like a clone of Dolphin...or Dolphin cloned KDE4's K....not sure
which. Don't care for either of them. I agree KDE3's K was better, but
maybe as with a lot of things KDE4, it's just not finished yet. I wish the
Folder View plasmoid worked like a file manager. That'd be cool.

Maybe look at Quick access plasmoid, I use it like this:

Ah yes. Very nice.
So why didn't they add navigation to FolderView I wonder?
This Quick Access is sort of like a mini Kickoff.

Why can't these forums stay on topic. Chat is for somewhere else.

Dolphin DOES suck! So does K in KDE 4. I loved K and bragged about it as one of the best innovations in Linux. Now Dolphin feels like a child tried creating something in the toy house.

I HAVE tried to get on with it. You can't avoid that in KDE 4. They have crippled K. Try su into K first after install of SuSE and you'll find it impossible to get into Dolphin as su (and the other way around as well). The worst area in Doplhin is the encoding. Some files with Polish letters, Czech letters, Finnish letters or Russian letters get magically converted to graphic symbols. When Dolphin does this you cannot rename or delete the files. The are reported as either non-existent or that you do not have sufficient permission. There is no obvious consistency, either. It is an ongoing mystery I have mapped out each time.

So I gave up. I have better things to do than the technician's job who I trusted had built the BASICS of the newest filemanager for KDE 4 that goes into ALL of the Linux distro's. UNBELIEVABLE!

Yes, I have a right to whine! I have worked in and contributed to Linux since about 1995.

Maybe they were trying to say something constructive [should that be konstructive?]...

I second Krusader, personally.
