---quote--- Anybody who uses Mono and Silverlight applications should read this article. <http://www.itwire.COM/content/view/25215/1090/1/0/> ---end quote--- very interesting, makes even me wonder just how tightly Novell has cozied up next to the Dark Side.. -- natural_pilot |

Last time it was their April 1st joke article about Novell being acquired and then the assumption that because they got a response from Novell's PR department that maybe there was something to it. As for how tightly Novell has "cozied up next to the Dark Side", why don't you go over and read the deposition of Bill Gates in the ongoing antitrust litigation Novell has going on against Microsoft? When you play close to Microsoft's (or any other company's) area of interest, you are asking for legal trouble. Nobody will sue you for tinkering with a technology for sole personal purposes, but as soon as you start making money with it, that's where legal departments start talking to you. Totally normal in the world of capitalism. How deal with it? Approach A: No patents. Is it going to happen soon, if at all? I don't think so. Approach B: Non-aggression pacts. That's what Novell and Microsoft did. Richard Stallman will call you a heretic, but as long as you are using Suse, you are safe from Microsoft's legal department. If you are a home user/hobby coder or an open source activist, choose A. If you want to run a business, choose B. My 2ct. Uwe |

If Novell's PR team spent their time answering every bit of FUD that's out on the 'net, they'd never get any other work done. Jim |
