    Hi
In the output from /var/log/messages, is it asking for firmware?

    If so, then read this;
    https://forums.opensuse.org/content/...rk-around.html

On my HP system I also installed the kernel-firmware package.

I tried with the indication from this link : https://forums.opensuse.org/content/...rk-around.html
but my laptop reboot by itself when I get to this line: sudo bcm43xx_firmware/install_bcm43xx_firmware_no_net

    Hi
That's correct, it should reboot by itself as explained in the article
    notes.

So if you look through the /var/log/messages file, any more clues?

    Is the package kernel-firmware installed?

I've followed these instructions with no success. It appears that the script runs but the firmware can't be loaded for whatever reason. This is the /var/log/messages output:

    Any suggestions?

The post here helps. It appears that for some Broadcom NICs the preloaded script doesn't download the right package for building the driver. If it helps, I'm running a mid-2011 MacBook Pro and the referenced post is for a Mac Mini, I assume they are using one of the newer Broadcom Wifi cards so if you're on newer hardware you might try that.

    Good luck.

The standard script /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware only installs version
5.10.144.3 of the Broadcom firmware, which provides only through ucode22xxx.fw.
This device needs ucode29xxx.fw. To get it, download

    Code:
    http://www.lwfinger.com/b43-firmware/install_bcm43xx_firmware_5.100.138
After downloading, to install the firmware, then

    Code:
    sudo ./install_bcm43xx_firmware_5.100.138
I will update the script for openSUSE 13.1.

    Hello,

The link above leads to a 404 error (I also tried with adding .tar.bz2)...
I found this thread because I cannot get to work my Broadcom 4331 wireless on a Macbook pro 8.1.

Any other place to find the needed, or shall I open a new thread with all the respective details?

    Thanks and kind regards

    Daniel
