Video "loses connection with computer"

Every once in awhile my screen blanks and won’t wake up. The monitor sez that the connection is lost and to use keyboard or mouse to activate. However the computer will not respond to the mouse/keyboard.

The mouse & keyboard are usb. The computer is an i7 running Suse12.2 x64 & KDE
The video card is ATI Radeon HD7500 with the ATIupgrade posted by Please_Try_Again.
A snippet from .xsession-errors:

OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 7500 Series
OpenGL version string: 2.1 (4.2.11931 Compatibility Profile Context)
Driver: Catalyst
Driver version: 2.1
GPU class: Unknown

GLSL shaders: no
Texture NPOT support: yes

I don’t know if the above info matches what it should be with ATIupgrade applied.

My Xorg.0.log is at SUSE Paste this link expires on 20 Jan.

I have the screen blanker and power settings set off.

The only solution I have found is a hardware reset.

With no other ideas, I tried unplugging & replugging the kb & mouse with no luck.
I wouldn’t be surprised to find that one of the updates I’ve installed causes this to happen, it was working well for a couple of months and only started this behavior in the last few weeks.

Hoping for some guidance here.

Thanks, Jon
