    Default OpenSuse 12.1 doesn't shutdown

Please help me with the problem related to shut down.
Recently, I have upgraded to 12.1. It was working fine until yesterday when I found it is not shutting down.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Close all opened applications
    2. Choose "Shut Down"
    3. Shut down process starts, but it stalls after few moments with the following message on the screen (it was recorded last night):
    4. Wait for 10 minutes, the message is still there
    5. Only way to shut down by turning off the power switch

    Code:
[7521.579084] su[6706]: pam_systemd (su-l:session): Failed to create session : Refusing activation, D-bus is shutting down
    System information:
    OS: OpenSuse 12.1
Platform: Dell Dimension with P4 and 2GB RAM

    Thanks.

Had the same problem with 12.1 on another Dell (Latitude D630) - fixed by
the latest systemd patch (29 Feb).

You could also try switching back to sysvinit via F5 at boot time.

I didn't install software upgrade for last two days, I'll do it tonight and post the result.

    Thanks.

The same happens here. Since last update i think.. perhaps something related with systemd ( systemd release a patch some days before). It gets stuck when i go to shut down in kde 4.7 and opensuse 12.1. I also have changed to graphical boot and shutdown image...

I suspect that it has some relation with last systemd update.

Have you tried booting with systemv? Press F-5 at the boot screen and select systemv.

With system v i cant reboot nor shutdown in graphical mode in kde 4.7.4. If i go to konsole and enter as root ( su) i can halt and reboot without problems.

With systemd: reboot ok, but shutdown it makes all the process go to the shutdown image ( green background with the white lizard). You can hear the disk working, but after a while it doent work... waited about 5 minutes and still there. Had to shutdown manually pressing the on/off button for some seconds.

    Think its a bug

    I don't know.
    I don't use kde, I can't compare.
If it is a bug, the place to report is in Bugzilla. If there is a newer kde
    version, try it.
