Default user password?

Hi Just tried installing education opensuse 12.1 as a guest os using vmware.
got initial welcome screen up and clicked install . There were several write errors came up but in the end I have a login prompt!

Got none of the install screens at all just went to the login prompt.
My question is…

What if any is the default user pass to login in this situation?

I have burnt disks 3 times with 3 different full dvd downloads just in case (they cant all be bad , right?)
all help appreciated.

With the live CD, the default user is “linux” and the password is empty for this user.

I have no idea what you are looking at, nor whether it uses the same defaults. Usually, the install procedure asks you to set a user name and password.

i’ve never used the education images, but i would guess/hope that there
are some education users hanging out in the education forum:

sure they could all be faulty…did you run md5sum against them prior
to burning the disks? did you burn on high quality disks at the lowest
possible burn speed? did you do this prior to beginning the install
process: http://tinyurl.com/455hbml

and, there are lots of tips on how to get a good install disk here:

oh! and you mention vmware: i don’t know if you downloaded a 32 or 64
bit openSUSE, but i do know (i think) that not all VMs can actually host
a 64 bit system…and, i also know that most folks here seem to prefer
Virtual Box over vmware… ymmv!

so, i’m far from certain your situation is gonna be solved by a “default
user password”…but, give it a shot.

If you installed and did not explicitly set a root password it defaults to the user password you set.
