Windows - SUSE Studio Image Writer

When using the Windows SUSE Studio Image Writer on Windows 7 professional I get the following error message:

**Execption Caught During Write:
system.componentModel.Win32Exception:Access is denied
at ImageWriter.DriveAccess.Write(Byte] buffer, UInt32len)
at ImageWriter.MainWindow.WriteToDisk()

What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Hi
Are you running it as your user or as administrator? If user, switch to
the administrator.

I am running as Administrator.

Hi
Another user reported the same issue here;

I’ve asked the SuSE Studio folks on IRC, hopefully they will come back
with an answer.

Did you check the md5sum of the downloaded imagewriter and also the iso
image? Is the USB device formatted as FAT?

If you are in windows, simply remove formatted FAT32 or NTFS volume from your USB pen. There should be a partition on the USB pen, but this should say RAW. So when prompted to format the partition just click cancel.

Run the Image Writer software, you should no longer get the error.

This way, it worked.

Note that Imagewriter is reported not to work on Windows 8 but here is a tool that does

Bueno les recomiendo formatear el pendriver con el formato NTFS, y luego muevan el programa SUSE Studio Image Writer al escritorio y ejecutar desde ahí como administrador, espero y les funcione…
