Thread: 11.4 Integrated Bluetooth Device Not Detected

Default 11.4 Integrated Bluetooth Device Not Detected

My onboard bluetooth is not being detected by SUSE 11.4. Fedora 14 has no problem detecting the hardware, but it just doesn't show up in SUSE 11.4. I have included a few outputs:

    lsusb:
    Code:
Bus 008 Device 002: ID 045e:0745 Microsoft Corp. Nano Transceiver v1.0 for Bluetooth
    rfkill list
    Code:
    0: phy0: Wireless LAN
    	Soft blocked: no
    	Hard blocked: no
    hictool dev
    Code:
    Devices:
If I plug in a dongle, the Bluetooth icon shows up in the notification bar, and I'm able to add and remove devices normally. Is there support for my onboard bluetooth device?

Hi and Welcome to the forum
    Can you check the output from opening a terminal and running;
    Code:
    /usr/sbin/rfkill list
If the command isn't found, then you need to install the rfkill package.

On a side note, if you need to paste logs etc in the future, use SUSE Paste and set the 'Delete After' to Never.

Thank you for the welcome and looking at this thread! I've bookmarked that link for future use for the larger logs, thanks for the tip

as for the output from rfkill list:

    Code:
    fayk@mercury:~> sudo /usr/sbin/rfkill list
    0: phy0: Wireless LAN
    	Soft blocked: no
    	Hard blocked: no
The only place I see mention of the onboard bluetooth is like J100, in my lsusb list.

    Hi
Is there a physical switch or keypress combination to activate the
wireless? Sometimes these are also used for bluetooth devices.

    It's a strange one....

Unfortunately there is not. This is a desktop PC, not a laptop, and I've been over all the motherboard switches in the manual, nothing talks about bluetooth. I've also ensured that bluetooth is set to enabled in the BIOS.

If I boot to fedora using a live USB disk, it picks up the onboard bluetooth no problem, so I'm fairly sure it's a software issue

    Hi
So can you get some information from the fedora system and post here?

    Check the output of

    Code:
    lsmod |grep blue
    For reference, I get

    Code:
    bluetooth 96350 9 rfcomm,sco,bnep,l2cap,btusb
    rfkill 17298 3 hp_wmi,bluetooth
Maybe the driver is not getting loaded?
