Thanks for the info, that's worth a couple of steps after installation time.

It was suddenly there when you checked for updates as a required one, like here ?
    - Athlon X6 3.6 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, 30 GB SSD, 3 TB of disks, GT540, openSUSE 12.2 x86_64 + KDE 4.10 + GNOME 3
    - ASUS A73SD, Intel + GT610M Optimus, 6 GB, 120 GB SSD, openSUSE Tumbleweed

It should eliminate a step or two. No more adding/removing VLC repo just to get this package.

I'll be hanging fire on a re-write of the multi-media guide for now, I did already eliminate VLC repo recently in the 11.3 part.

Great news! Has there been some recent change in German legislation (since this seemed to be the reason not to include it in the first place)?

Exactly, those are the steps I was referring to, and removing them is what it's worth.

I found it under Installation Summary when I used Install/Remove Software (YaST).

Now I have libdvdcss and libdvdcss2. Do I need both, can I remove the old one (and the repo)?
