Installing Wine

Hey everyone, i’ve been trying to figure out how to install Wine but it doesn’t make any sense to me, I found these instructions at How to install Wine in OpenSuse 10.3 | SUSE & openSUSE also (below) at but they don’t make any sense to me could anyone possibly elaborate on this please?

Install Wine

OpenSuse:/ # yast2 –install wine

Install CabExtract

Cab Extract is a free opensource software to extract Microsoft cab files from installers. This should be installed by default. If so, yast2 will report it to be already installed

OpenSuse:/ # yast2 –install cabextract

To verify installation,

OpenSuse:/ # rpm -qa wine cabextract

wine-0.9.62_aka_1.0.rc1-3.1

cabextract-1.2-57

Now, you are ready to install Windows applications on your OpenSuse 10.3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dude
What version of openSUSE are you using

Likely all you need is this from a su terminal

zypper in wine

openSUSE-11.3-DVD-x86_64

Go ahead with what I said above

Just in case you don’t know how
Become su in Terminal - HowTo

It is much easier to just install it from Yast.

How so exactly?
It’s just another option and maybe it’s ease relative to ‘zypper’ is all rather subjective.
