Default What do all the icons mean?

I've been using the forum without knowing what all the icons mean. I guess I'm not getting everything I could out of the experience. Is there a place to look at this info? If not, there are only a half dozen or so icons that some kind person could help me with.

Take the time to do a image with line arrows to the icons and I'll edit it to fill in the info for you.
But some of them have hover info.

Some icons get explained (a bit) if I put the cursor of my mouse/touchpad over it without clicking on it:
Some black text in a box on a yellow background appears (with some icons, e. g. [Thinking]).

And I personally think that there should be somewhere something like a user-manual on vBulletin Community Forum or somewhere on http://www.vbulletin.com/ - but all the documents I could find are for administrators or moderators.

I never saw this before! But, I still have trouble. The icons in the legend are too small to differentiate. I have always searched for new posts since my last visit. I always get 15 pages. So, either there is a 15 page limit or I am missing the icon that tells me where the break between read and unread posts are. Of course that is not the same as new posts but its close.

When I hover, it usually gives me a preview of the post. Some don't and I wonder why. But the only icon that hovering gave info was the little green left-pointing arrow showing I posted in that thread.

Thanks for the tips .... and I agree that there should be a user-manual for simple questions.

My Browser shows no preview of posting from some members of the forums (hendersj, DenverD,...) - I presume they are posting via a Newsreader (like Thunderbird) and the NNTP (Network News Transfer Protocol) instead of using the web front-end. But I do not rate it as a feature if this would be the reason, sorry: cause.

If my pointer is stopping a while above the tiny sisters of the big mail-icons in "Icon Legend" at the bottom of a forum overview page the yellow box shows me more information about the meaning of the big brothers - but to be honest I think I only found that after you asked again.

Thanks pistazienfresser for the links. While looking through I found this interesting item
How can I see the latest posts?
There are two ways to quickly view recently created or updated threads.
If you are not logged in, the 'today's posts' link will show a list of all threads that have been created or updated in the last 24 hours.
If you are logged in, the 'Today's Posts' link will change to 'New Posts', which gives you a listing of all threads that have been created or updated since your last visit.
The administrator can also set up the forums so that each thread you read is marked in the database. If this option is set, then new threads (or threads with new posts) will not be marked as read until you have actually read them.
There is a built-in time limit to this, however, that will automatically mark all threads as 'read' after a set number of day, whether you really have read them or not. The default setting is 10 days, but the administrator could make this higher or lower.
Is this forum set up as described here? It does not seem so. For me, a 7 day time limit would work.

Today, I see some forum weirdness. Since I always see a 15 page limit on "New Posts" I mark the non-English forums as read before I click on the New Posts button. That always eliminates the posts I can't read from the 15 page limit. Today, I still got non-English posts, but the icons were grayed-out, which I presume means they were marked as read. However, I got only 8 pages of new posts. So, it looks like the old functionality is back.

Also, I saw a posting from oldcpu. His geckos have turned into "feet" and I just don't understand that!
