Is NNTP gateway working?

This may or may not be a forum question… I usually read the forums via NNTP.
Just updated to 11.3, and I’m not seeing new posts in knode. Which end has the problem?

Sorry for this non helping answer, but why did you update to 11.3? “Never fix a working computer”.

i’d say there is a problem since yesterday on nntp, almost no new posts retrieved today.

it’s missing numerous posts that are listed on the web access, and i suspect the few new ones that i’m seeing were submitted thru nntp… so they may not be sync’d.

my 2 cents.

At the risk of going seriously OT…

Define “working”. The upgrade to 11.3

  • Is installed freshly in a new partition - easy to undo.
  • Fixed my SATA coaster maker, er, DVD writer
  • Replaced the børken digikam 1.3 from the Backports repo of 11.2. Installing this is when I should have followed my own advice.
  • “Fixed” my problem building Amarok from git source. Bug #242615.

OTOH, my update obviously caused the failure of the Forums NNTP gateway, half a world away. I hate it when that happens.

In my Thunderbird (version 3.0.5, packet Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0.5-1.1.1 (i586) )

there is no message in this group/subforum/forum via NNTP in the time between:

If it’s any help this is how the nVidia driver was loaded the hard way.

So I think
( if not a widely planned act of conspiracy or an act of cersorship [and why would DenverD’s posting be not censored if any …] /;-))
the problem might be in located in Waltham, Massachusetts or Nürnberg, Franken, Bayern.

Looks like the gateway has kicked loose now.

Jim,
do you know if they have found the problem yet (it has been going on
for three weeks, off and on, at least)?

anything we users could do to help?

There’s apparently occasionally messages that get posted that cause the
gateway to hang up. Exact cause isn’t known, but it’s under
investigation. The gateway itself is heavily modified from an old
version of what used to be made available for vBulletin, and the upgrade
to vB 4 seems to have exposed some issues that weren’t present in 3.x
because of some ways in which the database that back-ends the forums has
changed.
