Thread: Adobe reader won't open password protected file??

Default Adobe reader won't open password protected file??

I am running oppenSUSE 11. I have protected pdf files I need to open for classes at University of Phoenix (my textbooks) They use protected pdf. I downloaded acroread from yast and it opens the file, I put in my user name and password to unlock. I then get a pop up saying SSL error and to get certificate from terminal. I do so, accept the certificate but acroread still doesn't find it. UofP doesn't give support for linux so thought I'd try here. ( I can open in windows without a problem). Thanks for any help!!

Sounds like Adobe doesn't have all the features working in acroread for
non-windows yet. If you are able to open in windows then I would
suggest installing a PDF printer (PDF Creator from Sourceforge is great)
and then "print" your opened-in-windows PDF to that printer, which will
create a PDF for you that isn't encrypted.

    Good luck.

Thanks, I'll have to try that on the other laptop (on a backup one while my dual boot one is in the shop!). Thanks for getting back so quickly!
