Thread: Desktop Effects

    Default Desktop Effects

I've searched through the forums, but I can't seem to get desktop effects working on my system. I'm running OpenSUSE 11.0 with KDE 4.1 on a laptop that has an Nvidia GeForce4 440 Go graphics chip. I installed the legacy binary driver from Nvidia, and I see the Nvidia logo when X is starting. I also have the nvidia driver set in xorg.conf.

First I tried kwin's built in compositing feature. I checked the "Enable Desktop Effects" option and turned on a few effects (wobbly window's, etc), but nothing happens.

I also tried enabling desktop effects in the simple compiz config manager. Still nothing happens. Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting my effects working?
