The solution is on your system Start Yast - Network Sercives - Windows Domain membership. Configure that, and you should be able to join the domain.
    - Athlon X6 3.6 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, 30 GB SSD, 3 TB of disks, GT540, openSUSE 12.2 x86_64 + KDE 4.10 + GNOME 3
    - ASUS A73SD, Intel + GT610M Optimus, 6 GB, 120 GB SSD, openSUSE Tumbleweed

This might not help, but if you're on a network void of Windows boxes on
the domain you're trying to join, you won't be able to automatically
    find the DC.

You can always do the join by hand, as root:

    net ads join -S ip-of-a-domain-dc -U id-with-domain-admin-privs

make sure you clock is in sync with a time source used in common with
    the AD box.

I tried to do that, and still got an error message saying DC for the domain cannot be found.

Might there be something that needs to be done on the DC to allow Linux machines to join?
