![]() Well, no good news here. I don't get all the same errors, but it still doesn't work. Simple-ccsm effects do nothing at all, while the built-in KDE compiz still runs at a solid 60(when I'm not doing anything). I haven't rebuilt my drivers yet from the source code issue, but I will post my progress when I do. |

I almost forgot, I have been looking into this since late yesterday, but I am stuck. After I followed bender's procedure, this are a couple of lines cut from the terminal when I open simple-ccsm.
Checking for Xdmx: not present. Checking for Xgl: not present. I am sure I need Xgl, but don't know where the problem could be. |

Ok, something went horribly wrong. I found that I had kernel-sources ending in 4.1 and my 3 kernel- packages ended in 4.4. So I broke the golden rule of troubleshooting and did 2 fixes at once. I "updated" my kernel down to match my sources, rebooted straight into level 3 and updated my drivers. Now I apparently have NO WINDOW MANAGER AT ALL! On top of all that, I cannot type into a terminal window at all and when I try to open software managment in yast, I cannot type my root password. WTF! Do I get to start all over again or is this fixable? |

You mean You didn't reboot Your PC and went straight to init 3 do i understand that right? Try rebooting and again updating drivers.
If that doesn't work try to boot into safe mode. |

my recommendation would be to wait untill the public release of 11.1 or to revert back the *4.1 kenel and source |

I had the 4.4 kernel and 4.1 sources so I downgraded my kernel to 4.1. I then restarted my PC and when it came to the bootloader, I added init 3 to avoid loading X at all. I then installed the drivers and went to level 5 and voila, broken. I will do the drivers again and see what happens.
