I just installed OpenSuse 11.1 beta 5. Everything seems to be working fine except for my graphics. The only display settings available to me is a resolution of 1024 x 768 with a depth of 8 bits. It is using the VESA driver even though I have installed the xorg Intel package.
I read the known bugs and the only thing I saw that might be related is the Intel e1000 bug. I'm not sure, however, if my card is affected by it so I have two questions. 1. Is my Intel 845 G/GL integrated video card affected by the e1000 bug? 2. If not, what do I do to get my full video options functioning? Thanks in advance. |

Thanks, I have been there.
I was able to change my monitor from a generic one, but that doesn't affect my ability to change the resolution. When I try to change the resolution, I get an "Invalid Color/Resolution combination" message.

Check this thread. I know it's a different chip. But I mean the X11/xorg.conf details. (You can edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf but you need to use file manager super user, open with kwrite
and the last post in the thread - could this help? No graphical log-in screen after upgrading to OS 11.0 - openSUSE Forums

Thanks for the help. I read the thread you mentioned above and tried what it offered. No luck. I gave up for a while. When I saw the Release Candidate was out, I thought I would try again. Same exact problem. Anybody got any other suggestions?
