Question spec file etiquette

If I copy a spec file from say fedora and use it as a starting point to build a package, what's the etiquette with doing so?

- For one, is this ok, or even commonly done?
- Should I keep all entries in the changelog or delete them and
start with an initial build entry?

Thanks for any feedback.

Did it a few times myself.

Keep them (at least the last few) and mark very clearly in your first changelog entry, that you derived it from another packager's spec file is what I did.
