Virtual Box Instructions for Virtual Box from Sun Microsystems. Download the .rpm for you openSUSE system form here: Linux_Downloads - VirtualBox Quote:
Now either open a terminal in the location of the downloaded .rpm or in kde4's Dolphin use the terminal panel view and just navigate to the location of the VirtualBox .rpm.
The installation should proceed, unless you are missing dependencies or do not have matching kernel and source/header packages, in which case you will be informed. Post Installation Requirements From the su terminal do this: modprobe vboxdrv Next: Open YaST -> Security and Users -> UserManagement, and edit your user and add them to the vboxusers group. To do this, select your user name, click on Edit, switch to the Details tab and check the vboxusers check box. Important After system kernel updates you need to rebuild the kernel module with this from a su terminal: /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup Virtual Box Updates. Every so often Virtual Box itself is updated and a newer version will be available for download. Grab the new .rpm (having deleted the old .rpm file you used previously). To update you use this from a su terminal (remember the {TAB} auto-complete tip) rpm -Uhv packagename* That's it. Remember the Manual and User FAQ are available for download at the URL above. It is good documentation. Quote:

![]() Oops sorry, you may want to rephrase slightly as the User FAQ is just a linked page, so no need to download it. |

Thanks, but too quick for me. I edited my post and switched them round only to follow the sense that they should look at the FAQ first, at installation. We must have crossed in the post as it were.

Beginning with version 3.0.8 of VirtualBox, you can now add a VirtualBox repo to Yast and install/update from there.
1. Download the key from here: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtu...n/sun_vbox.asc 2. Import the key: Code:
sudo rpm --import sun_vbox.asc Code:
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/rpm/opensuse/11.1 EDIT: One additional step: make sure you disable or delete any existing Buildservice Virtualbox repo that you have enabled to prevent conflicts. For more information, see this link: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads |
