Great in it's simplicity !!! It's easy to get a mix of Videolan en Packman packages. Finally sorted some minor things out this way.

I copied this excellent how-to of caf4926 to the reviewed how-to area:
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums

That "reviewed" how-to is "locked". This current "un-reviewed" thread will remain open for comments.

Many thanks to caf4926 for his guide.

Thanks Lee.

Just wish I could edit some of my HowTo's to keep them spot on and up to date. I made a suggestion about this:

Thanks for this useful how-to.
Just a remark: Don't you think you should put libavcodec52 instead of libavcodec51 ?

Default Re: Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide

I have a problem when following this guide.

I followed the guide up to the point where we're supposed to select Package -> All in This List -> Update if newer version available. I get a list of dependency errors as expected, but none of the resolution options mentions a "Vendor Change". Almost all of them are just "Do not install". Here's the dependency checker output.

Code:

I'm on openSuse 11.1 and I've just got the Nvidia driver and Compiz installed and set up (if that's likely to make any difference).

EDIT: Oh and I'm on 64 bit.

Any advice?
