OK be kind to me as I am a newbie and have never in my life given advice to any linux user before, but here is how to install a Konica Minolta Magicolor 2530DL laser printer on SUSE11 64 bit with KDE.
1. Switch off DHCP on the printer control panel and assign a fixed IP (192.168.0.9) in my case. 2. Install the RPM file that is on the supplied CD, by clicking on it. 3. Log out user from KDE and login as root. 4. In Dolphin find the file called 'rastertokm2530dl' which should be in usr/lib/cups/filter, copy it and paste it into usr/lib64/cups/filter. 5. Log out as root and log back in as your normal user. 6. Open CUPS by typing http://localhost:631 into your web browser. 7. Add printer, give it a name and click 'continue' 8. Under device pick 'AppSocket/HP Jetdirect', and click continue. 9. for device URI, type socket://192.168.0.9:9100, and click continue. 10. In the Make box, select 'KONICAMINOLTA', adn click continue. 11. In the model box select 'KONICAMINOLTA magicolor 2530 DL (en), and click the modify printer button. 12, The printer now works in full colour! |
