These steps will decide if you have a routing or a DNS problem. Note: Your router/gateway address can be determined from the output of /sbin/route -n It should look like Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 2 0 0 wlan1 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 wlan1 Note that my router is at 192.168.1.1. If step 1 fails, please post the outputs from /sbin/iwconfig /sbin/ifconfig Larry |

thanks for the reply guys, sorry it's a slow reply, i've been very busy the last week. i will try those commands and get back. as said, it still won't connect (though NM says it is) by ethernet cable. could it be a **** router which is not supported?

right guys, an update, and an interesting and annoying one! i came home this weekend to find my laptop wouldn't even connect to my home network which it has done in the past. this makes me think that something like an update has caused the problem????
will get the results of the commands given above later. thanks. |
