Default no connetion after rebooted

hallo i am a noob at this
i can se my internet works and mozilla is not in offlin mode
but there is no connetion
it is wireless
what should i do to get it to work

Open a terminal and type:
su
then enter your root password

Now type:

lspci -v
Post all the output, we will look and see what your wireless device is.
Tell us if you use kde 3 or 4, or Gnome?

i tried it
i clicked on run su and then nothing happened
so... what now?

open a terminal and type:
su (then hit enter)
type the root password (the cursor does not move and no text displays) hit enter

then use the command I gave earlier

no does still not work i enter it
press enter
a run su box comes i press it nothing
it does not come and ask me for root password or anything
and it does not work to write the root in the place where i wrothe su?

yes that is what i did
did not work
i press alt f2
write su
run su pops up
if i press it nothing
if i press enter nothing
i does not ask me for root password
what am i doing wrong?
