Unhappy ifup problem

Hi everybody,
i got this problem, I get perfectly connected to the internet with ifup config. but if I dont use it like for 3 mins. I get disconnected...So for example if i am downloading something, it finishes downloading the file but if I leave my computer alone for some minutes, when i come back i have to do a "service network restart" in order to establish the link again. what can I do? its driving me crazy... :SS

thanks

What sort of connection is that? Dial up? DSL/ADSL? Broadband?
Please provide details.

Open a terminal window and keep the following command running. See what comes there when the disconnection happens:
Code:
su
tail -f /var/log/messages
