Your wireless device is an Intel3945ABG. Do a search on that device to
see how to set it up.

You need to install package less.

I'm not sure what command is missing. Enter the command 'which sudo'
to see if sudo is installed. If it is, then you need to install the
    package containing iwlist.

You iwlist output indicates that the device is receiving beacon
information. If it is not connected, then either your radio is off due
to the kill switch, or you have not set the encryption correctly with
    YaST or NetworkManager.

WIFI is on by the switch. I am using it all the time with Vista. With Suse 10.3 wifi did work with public networks, but not with password protected.

Which settings I have to change with yast for to make it work?

First, go to Network Devices in Yast. Choose your wireless, and select edit. There is a tab that specifies whether you are controlling the device via "ifup" or NetworkManager. If it is ifup, then you need to specify your encryption, etc. in Yast. If NetworkManager is selected, then you need to configure your wireless settings through it. It should be an icon sitting in your system tray.

The bigger question, for me: How did you install without less?

Have you filled out the rest of the screens in the "New Connection".
Having the "Connect and Save" button active there is a bug that is
    fixed in 11.1.

You can check that the connection is valid by pinging the AP. If that
works but the Internet cannot be accessed, try 'ping 66.70.73.150'. If
that fails, your router is not working with your modem. If the above
ping works, try 'ping www.samba.org'. If that works, your nameserver
    is working.

in all cases I got "network unreachable" I suppose with AP you mean "access point" with IP 192.168.1.1 - it is also unaccessible via wifi

In the settings, in the next screen I have chosen WEP, then other line WEP 40/128 bit hexadecimal, next screen with manual IP addresses I have left blank. Autoconnect is on. Thats are all the settings with option WEP

You have not made the encryption connection. Is wpa_supplicant
installed? It is not used, but NM needs it for some reason.
