by install media i mean the cd/dvd you used to install openSUSE. go to YaST - software management, type ipw or iwl in the search - box & press enter.

Okay so I installed the ipw firmware and have gone to network settings, how would I configure it in the hardware dialogue window?

I've selected Wireless as device type, what shall i put for 'configuration name:, module name: and options'?

Also, there is a PCMCIA checkbox, also USB.

Sorry for bumping, I don't mean to be rude. I'm just desperate to get this working now ^_^

Thanks again,

Some USB devices are built in. They just connect to an internal USB hub, not to
the PCI bus, and yours does not appear to be PCI.

Ah right okay, so what do you recommend I do? Because I'm stuck, connected downstairs to my router at the moment ^_^

Thanks for your time and patience, and any more help in advance.

I really don't know what to do anymore, I tried following one of the guides but it's so out of date. Now I'm installing everything and anything to do with Ndiswrapper.

I just wish I could just pop in a few terminal commands -_-

This is taking longer than I expected, i know i'm impatient but i'm still counting on you guys because i have 0 experience.

Thanks for help in advance

If I were you, I would start by providing the information that you are asked.
The output of lsusb would be a start.

No worries, I have managed to get it working. I am going to create a document, well a guide on how to get the wireless working on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo li1818 laptop, and for laptops that have have the same wireless driver.

Once I have completed the guide, I will upload it on here for anyone to use.

I will also notify NDISWrapper developers that it supports the driver, so it can be added to the official website.

Thanks for all your help in the process,

Lee Jarratt

Seems like I can't upload my guide here, oh well.

Thanks for all your help anyway!

(If anyone wants me to send them a guide for Amilo li1818 users, just pop me an email at lee.jarratt[at]live.co.uk).
