Question Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Driver Question

Hi

Do all distro's use (or can use) the same driver? The reason I ask is because I frequently use Fedora, openSUSE and Ubuntu. Of those three, Ubuntu connects everytime, openSUSE 1/10 tries and Fedora 1/25+ tries. Would it be possible to use the drivers from Ubuntu in both openSUSE and Fedora?

I have the same hardware, using the ipw2200 driver. The problem you're having is more likely to be due to networkmanager. This will be a different (newer) version to that used in other distributions. I am aware that some users have issues with it.

Hi Deano

Having checked the other distro's, both openSUSE and Fedora use NetworkManager 0.7.0 whereas Ubuntu uses 0.6.6. So it looks like the older version may be more reliable. Drivers seem to be the same version across all distro's.

Btw, I'm using WPA-PSK which may also have something to do with it.

Thanks for the update. I know some users had better experiences with wifi-radar (from packman repo), but it doesn't seem to be available for openSUSE 11 yet.

I am using openSUSE 10.3 and my Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG WiFi card on
Acer 1644wlmi works well and no issues using wpa-psk encryption. Even
the front wireless switch works "OTB". I simply configured the card with
Yast and use KNetworkmanager to connect.

Yeah, I think this problem concerns openSUSE 11.
