You should be able to install hplip with YaST.

This works for a Photosmart 7280:

Enable the packman repository in Yast. Search for "hplip", mark it for install then accept.

After hplip and dependencies are installed, from a terminal run "hp-setup" (without the quotes).

Follow the install wizard. You need the printer's IP address (set from the printer control panel in my case), the rest is pretty much automated.

danielt57;

After you have installed hplip, Open a console window and enter:
Code:
hp-setup
See: http://hplipopensource.com/node/332 For more information/help you might
want to look at the entire site:
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html

Also if you search the "hardware forum" for HP printer you should find a lot
of threads that deal with installing hp printers. With luck you might even
find a thread for the 7660.

You can also go directly into CUPS
http://localhost:631/
to finish the setup. For CUPS authentication use root for the username and
<your root's password> for the password.
