Question Windows to Linux Migration

Hi everyone, I´ve been in IT for a long while, but totally newbie to the linux world.
I have this scenario:
Microsoft domain with two sites.
We need to migrate (change) our Active directory infraestucture to Linux. I have read that Samba can recreate some of the DC and directory functionalities but its not able to replicate the sam database between domain controllers (sites, in my case). What distro and pacakages can acomplish this multiple DC/sites configuration?
Thanks in advance.

What do you need the domain environment for? Depending on what you do it
may not be needed at all. For example, if you need an LDAP datastore
OpenLDAP comes with OpenSUSE. If you need a server that supports SMB for
file sharing but only have one server the Samba can probably do what you
need without a domain at all. If you need a Kerberos backend for
kerberized applications then Kerberos is also available in Linux by
default. What you work with will likely depend on what you really need to
do (the "business cases" behind your technology).

Good luck.

Thanks in advance.
Depending on the level of support, maintenance etc you wish for your solution you may wish to check out Novell's Open Enterprise Server 2. (SP1) This will provide the network services you need on the SuSE Enterprise Server OS. It can even mimic an Active Directory Forest (with some limitations) if required while utilising the power of eDirectory.

Check out the following link or email me for more info:

Novell Documentation

Of course this will be at a license cost, but it may be more suitable for a business environment, or not.
