Default Network Print: Test Page from Yast works, but not from app

Hi,

Linux 2.6.27.23-0.1-default x86_64
Network is functioning fine.
Printing thru Linksys WPSM54G print server to Canon MP830 printer.
Using driver "Canon with driver Canon PIXMA MP830 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.2"
Printing a test page from Yast>Hardware>Printer works fine.
But when I try to print from OpenOffice, it acts like it prints, the queue clears out, but the printer never wakes up -- as if nothing was transmitted.
Same behavior when I try to print a test page via System > Configuration > Printing -- it acts like it's spooling, & the print queue empties, but the printer is just sitting idle.
I thought maybe it was a permissions problem, but I tried logging in to Linux as root, and have the same behavior.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

I see the following points of failure:

- Printer server glitch. Your device is a stand-alone printer server but may
have some configuration setup that could be interfering with Cups.

- Cups, cups setup or driver problems. There are some things you can review
to discard a cups problem. First, by going to cups configuration page
(http://localhost:631) and watching the status of the printer. Try to print
from any program and look there for any message error (i.e., "printer
disconnected", "job status is stopped", document not being even queued,
etc...). Second, you can take a look into cups logs
(/var/log/cups/access_log and error_log) and look for any error message.

THT
