Unhappy Unable to setup network

Hello to all,
I am new to linux world. But I want to learn, I am unable to do my network setup. I have a lan connection. I used to easily setup it in windows xp in network connections > internet protocol > properties. But I do not understand anything in linux. I have installed latest version of open suse 11.1 and KDE environment. Secondly I am unable to play mp3 files on it and I do not hear any sound at startup too. I *945* motherboard with a inbuilt realtek lancard and it is working fine on windows. Kindly help me.

Hi anadimishra, welcome to the Forums. Here's a pictorial tutorial on setting up an ethernet card: HowTo Configure a network card in Suse/openSUSE 10, 11 for LAN and Internet Access.

But if the network card isn't visible in Yast then post details of your Realtek network card by copying back here the dialogue you get when you enter this command in a terminal window:
Code:
sudo /sbin/lspci | grep ealtek
