Hello everybody;
I have an internet problem, My DSL internet connexion that I've made doesn't work properly, I don't know why. I tried to install this Package : pppoeconf (like under ubuntu) but it doesn't exist. I use a GNOME desktop. When i try to connect to internet with "System eth1" connexion, Linux tells me that the connexion is established but when I open FireFox , i can't navigate out of my pc. I like this distubution and I want to connect to internet with it as soon as possible, please help me. |

* lastexile,
there's a DSL configuration option in Yast, did you try that? Uwe |

In suse, you normally use kinternet for that, not pppoeconf. I'm not in suse atm so I can't tell you precisely, but I think it goes like this. Go to Yast, network settings, DSL Connections. Choose your network card, choose a provider from the list or set up a custom one and that's it. Once kinternet is started (main menu-internet-dialup) it will show up in the tray. Just click on it and it should connect to the internet.
rp-pppoe is another option. rp-pppoe package is available for installation through yast (and, if I remember well, pppoeconf is part of it). Once you install it, run... I think it's called tkpppoe. It will show GUI with self-explanatory options. Fill your name and password, chose network card and click connect... I hope that helps. If it doesn't, ask again. I'll log into Suse soon and can tell you the exact details from there. GL |
