They are (like me) posting from an nntp client see the forum FAQ's. In this case the user doesn't use their email account on the forum to cross reference to the nntp cllient. -- Cheers Malcolm °¿° (Linux Counter #276890) openSUSE 11.2 RC 1 (i586) Kernel 2.6.31.3-1-desktop up 15:33, 2 users, load average: 0.23, 0.14, 0.10 ASUS eeePC 1000HE ATOM N280 1.66GHz | GPU Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME |

Your post shows up normally, not as a guest.
Have you got a link to the specific FAQ that deals with this? Couldn't find it. Thanks. Quote:
What's with the palladium name? Is that a specific user's name? Or a catch-all for guests? Thank you. |

> catch-all for guests? "palladium" is a temporary pseudonym for an *individual* using nntp to access the forum.. see, folks who read/post to the forum via nntp have the choice of either linking their nntp post to a web-forum account, or not.. those who do (like Malcolm) will not appear as 'guest'.. since i do not associate my appearances via nntp with my web-forum account, my posts here are automatically marked 'guest' by the forum software.. by the way, anyone who wishes may visit here using nntp and sign their posts as "palladium"...there is very little control over access via nntp.. FAQ at: http://forums.opensuse.org/faq.php?faq=novfor#faq_nntp if you have other questions i'll happy to try an answer--i find many advantages in using nntp.. was there a particular reason for the inquisitiveness?? -- palladium |

When they merged the forums some of us, that came over from the nntp side, still prefer nntp to the Web based forum. Although I'm sure some users have chosen to masquerade as another user, it does not appear to me to be a major problem. -- P. V. "We're all in this together, I'm pulling for you." Red Green |
