Ctrl-ALt-Backspace is emergency option, similar in effects to computer power down using power switch. It should be used only when the regular log out doesn't work for some reason (screen frozen). > the SECOND time it is > given (used to be the first time...i have NO idea who in SUSE decided > it should be twice)....so, with openSUSE 11.0 and later Because killing Xorg can have bad consequences, the Xorg guys added this feature. After first Ctrl-ALt-Backspace you hear beep as warning that you are trying to shoot yourself in the foot, if you press Ctrl-ALt-Backspace for the second time within a second after first then Xorg is restarted. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ |

Graphic card driver crash, desktop crash, too little memory (RAM+swap) which triggers kernel mechanism to find memory for new started application by killing first "not needed" that will free enough space for the new one. There was bug in some earlier opensuse version that would crash Xorg when used with older Nvidia drivers, but only if application would request 3D. That bug is fixed for a long time. So to help you debug issue we should know much more about you graphic card, used driver, used desktop (KDE or GNOME), used RAM and swap. If you don't know how to get all that, let us know. Nice thing with well interconnected desktop (applications) is that user is very comfortable when it works, but when something goes down, then you can have ripple effect, taking down whole desktop. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ |

> oops logout??

ok tnks for that awnser,
it's a crappy pc but my own is at the shop for repair, so when i place this harddisk whit opensuse 11.1 in that pc it should be ok than! |
