I have always used VLC player because I never have any problems with codecs or anything. in my previous Linux days I have always had problems trying to watch any video at all so is there a player like VLC out there or where do I find all of the codecs so I can watch any version of video/audio and which player to use?

Also the codecs are here:
Welcome to openSUSE-Community.org - openSUSE-Community Just get the libdvdcss from the VLC repo then delete the VLC repo. After you've done that get the Packman version of VLC & then you should be all set.

open YaST, go to Software Repositories, click add, tick Community repositories and then tick packman repository. It will refresh, ask you to accept the key and voila. After that you go to Software Management and install VLC, (it should pull proper packman libraries).

With that said, I use kaffeine/xine a lot. And I use the mplayerplug-in with firefox. If you have the w32codecs installed, it works well for me. Maybe there is some formats that are not handled well, but I haven't found them. So there are options (I think). |
