Changing from default kernel to pae kernel

Just a quick question. I'm thinking of installing oS on a PC with 2GB ram so I assume the default kernel will be installed. If I then upgrade the ram to 4GB or greater, can I then just install the pae kernel via yast or is it done automatically?
EDIT: Forgot to say it's a 64bit system.

You know what pae is used for?

You'd have to select the PAE kernel manually.

Then I'd install the 64bit version of openSUSE firsthand and forget about PAE.
Two openSUSE versions ago, one would need very good reason to use the 64bit version (one of which being the wish to use more than 3GB RAM), but these days 64bit works flawlessly on all my systems.
