Default Reformat and now eveything is super slow

So i reformated and now everything is running super slow. When i got to save a image from a website it just lags out and freezes and i have to terminate the window. Even when i got to bring up the process window with ctrl-shift-escape it freezes when trying to load. I am not understanding why.

Please help.

I am running a gateway fx laptop with 4g ddr3, 500g hitachi, nvidia 9800m gts, and a dual core at 2.3ghz.

Okay so I just re-installed.

Now yast isn't working and the auto update feature reads

Quote:
DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit.
