Default installed 11.1 and messed it all up :(

Hi There,

I yesterday installed 11.1 on a separate partition and it seemed to be all fine - I started to configure my KDe and stuff and it looked all good - until I rebooted today for the first time KDE came up, I don't see any window title bars or decoration...
How do I get that back?
Thanks!
Ron

Did you install KDE 4.1.3 or KDE 3.5.10? You can also install Gnome or KDE 3.5.10 beside KDE 4 just in case of, since the latest KDE 4 might have issues from time to time.

Sounds like a Compiz problem (the 3d desktop effects).

Once you are at the desktop, open a terminal (if you can!) and type:

killall compiz
compiz --replace &

See if that fixes it.

If it does, maybe make some changes to the 3d desktop effects and try again.

It won't help as it's the wrong Compiz repo You're using.

The proper repo (without Nomad patches, which are causing that kind of behaviour like transparent titlebars) is there:
just do everything what's there

CyberOrg » Compiz on openSUSE 11.1

Well yeah, it seemed as if "portmap" had caused my problems - don't know why tho.... it's weird...
Uhm now I got a tilte bar on all windows except on Kontact - Kontact is still without - that's weird eh.... What's special about this? Does anyone have a clue?
Thanks!
Ron

I have an issue with Kontact in 11.1 that it always opens in Fullscreen mode. The window decoration is displayed beyond the window edges, so it appears that it isn't there. Open another app first (like Firefox). Then open Kontact and alt-tab over to Firefox so you can see your panel. Right click on Kontact and deselect Fullscreen.
