proxy problems

hi I am having problems getting suse to use my proxy I have edited some config files and configered it in kde 4 and yast2 but it just doesn't want to connect.
I have firefox working with my proxy settings but the rest doesn't want to cooperate/.kde/share/config/kioslaverc
