Keyboard Sensitivity + Suse 11.1

My lap top is an HP Compaq 6730s KS079UT dual booting Windows XP Pro and Suse 11.1 In Suse I notice variable key board sensitivity. Some time a light touch on a character prints one character, sometimes 3-6 characters. At times it is impossible to complete a password!
What to do? Suggestions?
