I do not know what this means "the audio interface disappears". Does that mean the following test sound no longer works? Try this speaker test (copy and paste it) into a Gnome-terminal / konsole
speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twavyou should hear a lady's voice saying "left front" , "right front" 5 times. When you state "the audio interface disappears" does that mean the test sound does work, but you have no mixer? If sound no longer works (after a reboot), what happens if you open a gnome-terminal/konsole and type: su -c 'rcalsasound restart'and then test your sound. Does that work? |

In the Yast sound config, the just-added soundcard is no longer there. But, I just went through the process of uninstalling the pulse-audio stuff, which demanded that I uninstall VLC, which I did. I then re-installed VLC, which dragged along the pulse-audio library. After doing this, the audio appears to be working correctly and persists through reboots. I wouldn't have expected this to depend on the order of installation of components. |
