Default gateway m6824 no sound

Sorry to be another sound issue. I really did search the forum but didnt find anything that helped me.

openSuse 11, KDE 3 - no sound
If it is relevant I had sound in fedora 9
Sound works in vista.

Gateway Laptop m6824, according to Yast / Hardware / Sound I have
index 1 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller
index 0 RV610 audio device [Radeon HD 2400 Pro]

however I do not know what that means

Thanks Community
Some day I will give back

Thanks for the effort in trying to provide info on your audio device.

You could start by trying to work your way through the openSUSE audio troubleshooting guide:
SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE

and if after having attempted to work through that guide, you still do not have audio, then then we need more information to give you an accurate recommendation.

To provide more information, with your PC connected to the internet, please copy and paste the following into a gnome-terminal / konsole:
Code:
wget http://home.cfl.rr.com/infofiles/tsalsa && su -c 'bash ./tsalsa'
when prompted for a password please enter your root password. Please try to accurately answer the question on the number of plugs/jacks on your PC (for example my PC has 3 i/o plugs/jacks). When the script completes it will pass you a URL. Please post that URL here.

Also, please copy and paste the following, one line at a time, into a gnome-terminal/konsole and post the output here.
rpm -qa | grep alsa
rpm -qa | grep pulse
rpm -q libasound2
uname -a
cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound
Good luck (and hopefully the first link will work for you so that you do not have to go thru the rest to give information)!

step three fixed, and the tip on checking the mixer was great. The sound was extremely low until I found the mixer.

Thank You
